Sonoma County Republican Party Announces June Election Recommendations

The Sonoma County Republican Party held a candidate forum and endorsement meeting on Saturday, April 12th in Petaluma. All Republican candidates for statewide office and district offices (that include Sonoma County) were invited to attend or send a representative. All candidates for local non-partisan county offices on the June ballot were invited regardless of their party affiliation.

Over the course of the 4 hour meeting, attendees including elected members of the Sonoma County Republican Central Committee listened to the various campaign presentations.

At the conclusion of the presentations the Committee held a business session for the purpose of voting on endorsements. Endorsements require the support of a minimum of two-thirds of the voting members.

The Committee is pleased to announce their recommendation of the following candidates:

Governor – Tim Donnelly

Secretary of State – Pete Peterson

Controller – Ashley Swearengin

Treasurer – Greg Conlon

Insurance Commissioner – Ted Gaines

Board of Equalization – James Theis

State Assembly, District 2 – Matt Heath

State Assembly, District 4 – Charlie Schaupp

State Assembly, District 10 – Gregory Allen

We were very encouraged by the level of participation that we had in this and other recent events,” said Elissa Wadleigh, County Party Chairman. “I find a growing level of engagement among County Republicans this year. It is becoming abundantly clear that our personal freedoms are deteriorating. If the size and scope of government continues to grow, there is no doubt that the next generation will experience even less liberty and freedom. It often seems we are choosing between the lesser of evils, but not this time. In 2014 we have strong candidates that are standing for liberty. They are committed to reforming the government regulations that have driven businesses and jobs out of California. We are excited to rally around these candidates.”
