Resolution On Israel
SONOMA COUNTY REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE
U.S. – ISRAEL DIPLOMACY AND SECURITY RESOLUTION
April 21, 2010
WHEREAS, Israel stands alone as a free and democratic nation in the Middle East , and
WHEREAS, the United States of America has long been a supporter and ally of Israel as its staunchest friend since Israel was first recognized by President Truman in 1948, and
WHEREAS, the land where Israel is placed was given to the Jews by God as witnessed in the Book of Genesis, and
WHEREAS, the present government of the United States is being led by individuals, such as President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who consistently favor interests of the PLO and Hezbollah, as well as the weakening of Israeli security, and
WHEREAS, during the recent visit to Washington, D.C. of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Obama treated him as persona non grata, snubbing and generally humiliating him, and
WHEREAS, Obama and Clinton have employed bullying tactics, including attempting to isolate Israel by calling on allied American nations such as France, Germany, and the United Kingdom to pressure Israel to cede strategic territories to Palestinian control and vacate Jews from their own lands, and
WHEREAS, the Obama administration has set itself on a course of demands upon Israel which cannot be implemented without seriously weakening Israeli security while making no demands whatsoever on the Palestinian terrorists who regularly murder Israeli citizens, and
WHEREAS, the Obama policy and attitude toward Israel is inviting an escalation of the intifada and encouraging regional powers, like Iran, to institute new threats to Middle East peace, NOW BE IT RESOLVED, THAT
The Sonoma County Republican Party, in concert with the Platform provisions of the California Republican Party and the Republican National Committee, protest the behavior of our government toward Israel, and call for the Obama administration to cease its irresponsible and rude behavior toward a friend and ally and adopt a stance on Middle East security more likely to achieve peace and stability in the region and to secure Israel’s right to exist with its capital undivided and its people safe in their homes and persons, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT President Obama issue a formal apology to Prime Minister Netanyahu for his inappropriate behavior during Netanyahu’s recent visit.
